The Invisible War, part 7

“How to Avoid Temptation”

So this is the 7th and final talk in our series on the invisible war, winning the battle with temptation; and we have really covered a lot of ground in the last several weeks. So let’s do a quick recap to see where we have been; we talked about the sources of temptation, the purpose of temptation, the process of temptation, the types of temptations, the steps to overcoming temptation and today we are going to end up this series with discovering how to avoid temptation. How can we avoid it altogether instead of fighting it, let’s learn to avoid it!

The reason most Christians aren’t victorious in the battle with temptation is because they are not prepared to overcome it. It’s why Jesus himself told us repeatedly to watch out for it;

Matt. 26:41  “Watch and pray that you do not enter into temptation.”

1 Cor. 10:12 NKJV “let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”

Eph. 5:15 NASB “be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise.”

1 Cor. 16:13 NASB “be on the alert, stand firm in your faith, act like men, be strong.”

Being spiritualty prepared means two things; it means to be expecting and it means to pray. Expecting does not mean we are in a state of worry, but it means if we are expecting it then we are not blindsided by it when it happens. and it means to pray, if you are not praying consistently you don’t have your walls up and your defense is down and the darts of satan can hit you.
