Sermon Notes

A couple of weeks ago we touched on the subject of offense, this is so important to understand and to deal with because so many of us get de-railed by offenses; marriages struggle because of them, families get in trouble, friendships are wrecked by offenses, and even churches are struggling because of offenses…

So we wanted to take a look at what the bible has to say about the subject of offense…

Offenses will come!
Matt. 18:7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

Now an offense happens when someone has been displeased, or is displeased, has been enraged or is angered or senses a violation has occurred.

But because Christ lives in us, we have a choice to not take the offense or become offended.
Offense in the Greek is the word; Skandalon= the part of the trap or snare that is baited.
It also means an occasion to fall or stumble.
It is a fact; people will offend you, it is going to happen, it is not if but when; the question is will I take offense and become entrapped by what happens?

So we introduced the idea of the monkey trap last week…
There are three results of offense;
1. Loss of joy
2. Blocks the anointing
3. Beats the word out of you

Satan provides the bait
Someone offends us
We hold the bait taking offense
Satan clubs us to death!
So look at this; this will really make sense;
